Montepaschi Siena remains unbeaten atop the Italian League with a perfect 12-0 record after downing 80-92 Benetton Treviso on the road Sunday. David Hawkins and Terrell McIntyre scored 19 points apiece to lead the champs. In an all-Euroleague challenge, Lottomatica Roma won its second game under new coach Matteo Boniciolli, defeating Armani Jeans Milano 77-69. Kennedy Winston led the way with 14 points. Pepsi Caserta picked up a 76-53 win over Cimberio Varese to stay alone in second place with a 9-3 record. Jumaine Jones paced the winners with 16. Angelico Biella produced a 54-124 thrashing of Martos Napoli, which played with its junior team, behind 24 points and 9 rebounds from Luca Garri. Scavolini Pesaro recorded its fourth consecutive win, beating Banca Tercas Teramo 82-78 as Eric Williams produced a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. NGC Cantu thrashed Air Avellino 85-61 to raise its record to 8-4 after an outstanding first quarter ended at 25-10. Maarty Leunen had 25 points for Cantu. Virtus Bologna edged Vanoli Cremona 69-74 led by 19 points from big man Michele Maggioli. Sigma Coatings Montegranaro needed overtime to take a thrilling 92-88 success over Carife Ferrara. Marquinho had 16 points for Montegranaro and Anthony Grundy netted 31 for Ferrara in defeat

David Hawkins and Terrell McIntyre scored 19 points apiece and Ksistof Lavrinovic added 11 for the winners. Gary Neal of Benetton led all scorers with 25 points as Treviso’s record fell to 6-6. The game was close early and the hosts led 23-22 after 10 minutes. Sandro Nicevic gave Benetton a 29-24 edge early in the second quarter and the home team maintained a slim margin till back-to-back triples by McIntyre and Marco Carraretto made it 41-46 for Siena close to the halftime buzzer. A 2-14 run opened the third quarter and broke the balance for the visitors. Montepaschi through Romain Sato extended the difference to 50-68. Benetton tried to come back, but Siena managed the situation to get its 12th consecutive win.
In an all-Euroleague challenge, Lottomatica Roma won its second game under new coach Matteo Boniciolli, defeating Armani Jeans Milano 77-69. Kennedy Winston led the way with 14 points, Ricky Minard added 13 and Andre Hutson and Iby Jaaber scored 10 apiece. Massimo Bulleri led Milano with 15 points and Morris Finley had 10. Lottomatica led 19-12 after 10 minutes, but led by the duo of Andrea Crosariol and Angelo Gigli dominating in the paint on both sides of the court, Roma played an amazing second quarter and made a 21-9 run to take a 40-21 advantage at halftime. Bulleri beat the third quarter buzzer for a three to cut the margin to 56-47, keeping Armani on track. Bulleri followed with 7 points in a row put Milano as close as 65-59 with four minutes left in the game, but Minard and Winston rejected the guests’ attempts and with good accuracy from the foul line ensured the win for Lottomatica.
Scavolini Pesaro recorded its fourth consecutive win, beating Banca Tercas Teramo 82-78 as Eric Williams produced a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds while Micheal Hicks also had 21 for the winners. Four more Teramo players scored 12 apiece: Drake Diener, Valerio Amoroso, Beppe Poeta and Goran Jurak. The game was tied 40-40, at halftime. Branko Cvetkovic’s slam made it 68-80 at the end of the third quarter. Dusan Sakota from downtown extended it to 78-65 before Teramo made a 2-13 run capped by Ryan Hoover from beyond the arc to get back in the game, but Marques Green from the foul line scored a pair ensuring the win for the hosts.
