The Israeli League painted the first impression of the new season as Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv recorded a big win over defending champion Hapoel Gilboa/Galil, while Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem dropped a game on the road at Bnei Hasharon. In a rematch of last season's title game, Maccabi smashed Galil 102-75 as seven players scored in double-digits for the winner led by Sofoklis Schortsanitis with 16 points in 16 minutes. Lior Eliyahu added 15 and Guy Pniny 11.Rodney Green scored 21 for Galil. Despite missing key starters Lee Nailon and Sharon Shason, Bnei Hasharon topped Jerusalem 81-76. Filiberto Rivera had 19 points and 5 assists for the winners followed by Shawn James with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 3 blocks. Brian Randle posted 27 points and 10 rebounds for Jerusalem and Yuval Naimy added 19. Other Week 1 winners were newcomer Maccabi Ashdod, Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Rishon Lezion.
