Italy’s three Turkish Airlines Euroleague representatives all came out winners in Week 9 of Italian League action. Defending champion Montepaschi Siena beat Enel Brindisi 51-68 to remain atop the standings with an 8-1 record. Armani Jeans Milano is one win back after beating Air Avellino 90-78 and Lottomatica Roma picked up its third victory by swatting Banca Tercas Teramo 53-74. Montepaschi held Brindisi to just 3 second-quarter points to take a double-digit halftime lead and led by 21 after three quarters en route to the win. Ksistof Lavrinovic led the winners with 13 points and 9 rebounds and Milovan Rakovic racked up 13 points too. Milano used an 11-2 finish to the game to put away Avellino. Ibby Jaaber scored 22 and David Hawkins 17 for Milano, who also welcomed big man Oleksiy Pecherov back to action. Pecherov scored 6 points in 14 minutes. Roma outscored Teramo 7-23 in the second quarter to take control against Teramo. Luigi Datome scored 23 and grabbed 9 rebounds and Darius Washington netted 15 for Roma. Bennet Cantu bested Fabi Shoes Montegranaro 83-93 behind 24 points from Nicolas Mazzarino and 22 from Mike Green to improve to 6-3, where it is joined by Scavolini Siviglia Pesaro and Cimberio Varese. Pepso Caserta took Varese down 92-80 as Ebi Ere scored 24 and Jumaine Jones grabbed 15 rebounds. Pesaro defeated Vanoli-Braga Cremona 74-87 as Daniel Hackett netted 20. Matteo Soragna scored at the buzzer to lead Angelico Biella to a 60-61 victory over his former team, Benetton Treviso. Jeff Vigiano led Biella with 15 points. Devn Smith had 18 for Benetton. And in one of the week’s best individual performances, Jared Homan had 21 points and 16 rebounds to lead Canadian Solar Bologna over Dinamo Sassari 66-75.
