Spanish League, Regular Season, Game 2: October 9-10, 2010
Three Turkish Airlines Euroleague teams are among the five teams undefeated through two games in the Spanish League. Regal FC Barcelona, Unicaja and Real Madrid are joined by Bizkaia Bilbao Basket and Fuenlabrada among the ranks of the unbeaten. Barcelona continued its momentum after an NBA Europe Live win over the Loa Angeles Lakers by downing C.B. Granada 78-85. Juan Carlos Navarro scored 24, Jaka Lakovic 16 and Pete Mickeal 14 for the Euroleague champs. Unicaja survived a stern test from Caja Laboral to win the all-Euroleague matchup 76-69. Berni Rodriguez scored 15 and Joel Freeland 12 to pace the winners. Fernando San Emeterio paced Laboral with 30 points in defeat. Madrid mauled Assignia Manresa 81-63 by dominating the middle two quarters 43-24. Clay Tucker scored 16 and Sergio Llull 15 for the winners. Bilbao turned away another Euroleague side, Power Electronics Valencia, 77-70 as Chris Warren and Martin Rancik scored 18 each. Serhiy Lishchuk posted 19 points and 9 boards to lead Valencia. Fuenlabrada was a 68-76 winner at Meridiano Alicante as Esteban Batista posted 21 points and 12 rebounds. It was a rough week for Eurocup teams in Spain with two of three clubs falling. Asefa Estudiantes went down to Valladolid on the road 79-66. Jason Robinson paced Valladolid with 21 points. Daniel Clark led Estudiantes with 15. Cajasol lost 73-60 at Lagun Aro GBC as David Doblas came through with 16 points. Earl Calloway led Cajasol with 12. Gran Canaria 2014 was Spain’s lone winner among Eurocup sides with an 83-71 win over CAI Zaragoza.
