Adriatic League, Regular Season, Game 10: December 2-4, 2011
Maccabi Electra kept its grip on first place in the Adriatic League with a tightly fought road win over Crvena Zvezda 76-83 on Saturday night to remain unbeaten at 9-0. Maccabi went infront 17-25 in the opening quarter, but the hosts battled hard, won the second quarter and tied the fourth to keep things close. Sofokolis Schortsanitis led the winners with a game-leading 19 points, and Keith Langford and Yogev Ohayon added 12 apiece. Petar Popovic got 17 points to lead Zvezda. Zagreb was the only other Euroleague side to win this week, overcoming Krka 85-80 at home on Saturday night for a 5-5 record. The hosts outscored Krka 39-32 in the second half to clinch the victory. Krunoslav Simon paced the winners with 25 points and Sean May added 23 along with 13 rebounds. Siroki beat Union Olimpija 50-87 on the road Saturday night on the strength of torrid shooting from downtown, hitting 15 of 25 three-pointers. Boris Barac nailed 16 points and Zelko Sakic added 15, as the two combined for 6 of 9 from deep. Aleksandar Capin, Jaka Blazic and Deon Thompson scored 10 apiece for Olimpija. Buducnost downed Partizan 76-68 at home on Sunday evening by dominating the inside game and outrebounding the visitors 36-21. Buducnost got balanced scoring, led by Marko Popovich’s 13 points and Bojan Krstovic’s 12. Olimpija and Partizan are now tied for third at 7-3 behind Cedevita, which crushed Cibona 95-69 at home on Saturday night to go 8-2. The hosts dominated throughout, but piled on points in the fourth when they outscored Cibona 31-17. Cedevita had five players in double figures, led by Vedran Vukusic, who knocked down 13. In other games, Zlatorog got its second win by defeating Hemofarm 76-68 at home on Friday night, and Radnicki went 4-6 after it upended Helios in overtime 90-98 on the road.
