Ventspils recorded back-to-back wins this week by edging University of Tartu 85-80 at home and thrashing Kalev/Cramo 85-52. Ventspils now has a 4-1 record. The game with Tartu was very balanced and in a thrilling finish it was the duo of Janis Strelnieks and Martins Meiers that made the difference for the winners. Strelnieks finished with 18 points and 5 assists, while Meiers had 20. Valo Alingu led Tartu with 18 points. Martins Laksa was the main contributor with 21 points in the easy win for Ventspils over Kalev/Cramo, in which the hosts led 46-25 at halftime. Strelnieks added had 12 with 4 assists. Kalev/Cramo beat Liepajas Lauvas 69-84 on Friday, behind 21 points from Gregor Arbet and 19 drilled by Pavel Ulyanko. In a mid-week game, Liepajas outlasted Tartu 104-93 as Joshua Mayo scored 28 points added 7 assists and Martynas Andriukaitis had 20.
