Belgacom Spirou Basket outplayed Belgian League co-leader Antwerp Giants 70-61 to take sole possession of first place with an 18-7 record while Oostende overwhelmed Mons Hainaut 78-54 to enter a second-place tie with Antwerp at 17-8. Spirou led 36-30 at the half, but Antwerp controlled the third quarter to cut the margin to 48-47. The home side’s 22-14 differential in the final 10 minutes decided the game as Dwayne Broyles tallied 17 points, and Trevor Huffman and Christopher Beghin added 8 apiece. Matt Lojeski poured in 19 points and Dragisa Drobnjak 13 to lead Oostende to an easy 78-54 victory over Mons Hainaut, while bottom-ranked Verviers-Pepinster upset Okapi Aalstar 69-63 behind 21 points and 10 rebounds by Bingo Merriex. Aalster dropped to 14-11. Finally, Gent battered Liege 82-55 behind a 24-4 run in the second quarter.
