French League, Regular Season, Game 13: December 27, 2011

The last games of 2011 brought no changes atop the French League standings as co-leaders BCM Gravelines and Chalon/Saone and the clubs directly behind them, Le Mans and SLUC Nancy, all won. Gravelines routed SIG Strasbourg 74-54 after pulling away with a big second quarter for a 45-30 halftime lead. Juby Johnson and Cyril Akpomedah scored 17 apiece as Gravelines improved to 11-2. Andrew Albicy added 10 points and 5 assists for the winners. Maxime Zianveni paced Strasbourg with 12 points. Chalon stayed pace with Gravelines by holding off Chorale Roanne 69-76. Chalon led by double figures after 10 minutes and by 20 after three quarters before Roanne rallied. Malcolm Delany paced Chalon with 17 points and 5 assists. Defending champion Nancy is within striking distance of the leaders with a 10-2 record and a game at hand after taking care of Hyeres-Toulon 84-97. Nancy’s efficient attack put the visitors up 12 by halftime and great three-point shooting (10 for 20, 50%) made the difference. Pape Philippe Amagou scored 23 points and Adrien Moerman and Victor Samnick added 14 points apiece for Nancy. Rick Hughes posted 24 points and 10 rebounds in defeat. Le Mans blasted Paris-Levallois 99-76 by doing most of the damage in the middle two quarters, when it outscored the capital city hoopsters 54-37. Taylor Rochestie starred with 21 points and 10 assists, Travon Bryant added 17 points and 10 rebounds and Marcellus Sommerville also scored 17 for the victors. Lamont Hamilton led Paris with 18 points. Cholet held on to beat Poiters 69-76 on the road as Fabien Causeur came through with 24 points and DeMarcus Nelson added 21. And Pau-Orthez edged Asvel Basket 92-91. Chinemelu Elonu scored 18 for Pau. Phil Goss had 21 for Asvel.
