French League, Regular Season, Game 23: March 23-24, 2012
BCM Gravelines tightened its hold on first place in the French League by routing Orleans 54-69, while Roanne outdueled second-place Chalon-sur-Saone 78-83. Gravelines climbed to 20-3, thanks to a 22-12 run in the third quarter that gave the visitors a 37-54 margin after 30 minutes. J.R. Reynolds was the man of the moment, netting 25 points, including 7 of 11 from downtown, while Pape Sy added 11 and Tannick Bokolo 10. Roanne upended Chalon 78-83 in a seesaw battle that saw the two teams tied 45-45 at the half and the hosts leading 60-59 at the end of the third quarter. Dylan Page rose to the occasion, pouring in 37 points for the winners, including 8 for 10 from beyond the arc. Chalon fell to 18-4 and has a game to recover on March 27 against Paris-Levallois. Sluc Nancy downed Hyeres-Toulon 89-76 in a game it controlled throughout, leading 55-40 at halftime. Jamal Shuler and Pape-Philippe Amagou bagged 17 points apiece, Rob Kurz added 14 and Akin Akingbala had 12 points along with 14 rebounds for the winners. Charles Khaudi and Alex Acker tallied 20 points apiece to lead Le Mans to an 83-69 win over Strasbourg as the winners used a 23-13 fourth quarter to secure the win. Le Mans and Orleans are now tied for third place with 15-8 records. Dijon survived a 74-72 thriller against Paris-Levallois as Zach Moss posted 24 points, while Poitiers surprised Cholet Basket with a 77-85 win led by a 21-point effort by Evan Fournier. Asvel Basket continued its slide, losing 81-87 against Nanterre, its fifth in a row, after being ahead 46-41 at halftime. A 30-11 in the third quarter iced the game for Nanterre, which got 15 points from Xavier Corosine. Finally, Le Havre downed Pau-Lacq-Orthez 79-89 as John Cox scored 33 points to pace the winners.
