French League, Regular Season, Game 24: March 30-31, 2012
BCM Gravelines held on to first place in the French League with a 21-3 record after coming from behind to edge Strasbourg 65-66, while Chalon-sur-Saone stayed on its heels with a 20-4 record after thrashing Hyeres-Toulon 69-98. Gravelines racked up 12 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, capped by a triple by Juby Johnson, to make off with a 65-66 win against Strasbourg as Johnson paced the winners with 18 points and J.K. Edwards chipped in 14. The hosts controlled the game but after taking a 65-54 lead in the fourth quarter, they could not find the basket, allowing Gravelines to surge ahead for its sixth straight win. Chalon had an easier job of it, leading Hyeres-Toulon 35-51 at the half and cruising to a 69-98 win as Malcom Delaney led the way with 21 points. Chalon also beat Paris-Levallois 77-83 on March 27 in a game that needed to be recovered. Meanwhile, a three-way tie continued for third place as Orleans, Le Mans and SLUC Nancy all won. Nancy downed Cholet 72-78 in a game that got close at the two-minute mark, but a dunk by Akin Akingabala and three free throws by John Linhean sealed the visitors' win. Jamal Shuler led Nancy with 16 points, and Akingabala added 15 with 8 boards. Fabien Causeur paced the losers with 23 points. Le Mans tripped up Poitiers 75-83 as Alex Acker nailed 21 points for the winners while Marc-Antoine Pellin helped lift Orleans to a 66-69 win against Roanne, scoring 17 points and leading a decisive 12-0 run in the last quarter. Paris-Levallois bounced back from its loss to Chalon by downing Asvel Villeurbanne 68-73, as Lamont Hamilton amassed a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds. The Parisian squad ended the week with a 15-9 record. In other games, Nanterre outlasted Pau-Lacq-Orthez 90-77 and Le Havre beat Dijon 68-66 to stay in Pro-A.
