Israeli League, Regular Season, Game 8: December 3-5, 2011
Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv returned to the top spot in the standings with an 84-75 home victory over Hapoel Holon, while Hapoel Jerusalem celebrated a big 95-76 win over Bazan Haifa before its trip to Gravelines. Maccabi improved to 6-1 with the win. The defending champs led 41-37 at halftime before Keith Langford shined with an active third quarter and with 9 points in a row carried Maccabi to a 68-57 lead early in the fourth. Richard Hendrix and Shawn James kept Maccabi on top the rest of the way. Langford led Maccabi with 21 points, Hendrix added 17 with 10 rebounds and Devin Smith finished with 15 points. Jerusalem jumped to 5-2 following a big won over Haifa. Hapoel is tied for second place with Gilboa/Galil and Ashkelon. Jarvis Varnado and D.J. Strawberry helped Hapoel pull away after the break for a 58-42 lead midway in the third and Haifa never recovered. Varnado finished with 16 points, Strawberry had 15 and Elishay Kadir scored 14 plus 5 assists. In other action, Greentops Netanya picked up its first victory of the season, 88-80, over BC Habika behind 22 points and 12 rebounds by Chris Burns, Rishon Lezion bested Maccabi Ashdod 69-76 led by Joe Crawford with 23 points and Bnei Hasharon/Herzeliya changed coaches and with Adi Azulay in charge scored a 101-96 victory over Eldan Ashkelon. Delroy James had 34 points to lead Hasharon.
