Keith Langford - Maccabi Electra_37368In a short week in the Israeli League due to a pair of postponed games, traditional powerhouses Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv and Hapoel Jerusalem both chalked up comfortable wins. Defending champion Maccabi improved its record to 16-2 by stomping Maccabi Rishon 90-73. Keith Langford scored 19 points and dished 6 assists and Richard Hendrix posted 18 points and 8 rebounds to lead Maccabi. The big difference in the game was rebounding as Maccabi controlled the boards 38-23. Lior Eliyahu added 14 points and 7 boards and Devin Smith had 12 and 7 for the winners. Joe Crawford paced Rishon with 27 points and 5 assists. Jerusalem pulled away in the fourth quarter to roll Hapoel Holon 80-69 to narrow the gap at the top. Third-placed Holon is now 11-8, while Jerusalem tied for fourth at 10-8. D.J Strawberry scored 21 points and Ramel Bradley 17 for the winners. Ron Lewis led Holon with 20. In the only other game of the week, GreenTops Netanya routed Bnei Hasharon 97-77 as Yahu Orland shined with 22 points on perfect shooting, including 4 for 4 from downtown.
