Israeli League, Regular Season, Game 21: March 18-19, 2012
Derwin Kitchen – Maccabi Rishon (Photo: BSL)Hapoel Holon took advantage of GreenTops Netanya’s win at Galil/Gilboa to match the latter for the second-most wins the Israeli League, while Hapoel Jerusalem suffered another road loss to drop into a tie for fifth place. Holon smashed bottom-of-the-table Maccabi Haifa 83-53 behind 22 points from Tasmin Mitchell and a Patrick Sullivan double-double to improve to 12-8. However Galil remains in second with two games at hand despite losing 78-81 to fall to 12-6. Adrian Banks paced the winners with 27 points. Maccabi Rishon’s defense stumped Jerusalem in a 69-64 overtime victory. Brian Randle went to the line late in regulation with his team down 1 and split free throws to tie the score at 55-55. However Randle fouled out in the extra session and Derwin Kitchen nailed a pair of clutch shots – including a back-breaking triple in the final minute – to help Rishon nab the victory. Kitchen finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals and Joe Crawford netted 18 for the winners. Ramel Bradley led Jerusalem with 16.
