Lior Eliyahu - Maccabi Electra_35257Maccabi Electra took a short break from its Turkish Airlines Euroleague Playoffs clash with Panathinaikos to rout Bnei Hasharon/Herzliya 92-75 in the Israeli League. Maccabi started slow and trailed 17-23 after one quarter. Richard Hendrix and Shawn James ignited Maccabi early in the second quarter to tie the game at 27-27. Guy Lavie and Jason Williams put Herzliya back on top by 6, Maccabi responded with an 11-2 sprint and finally the half ended with the score knotted 43-43. Hendrix and Lior ELiyahu helped the champs pull away again in the third quarter. The lead reached 11 before a Tweety Carter triple made it 66-58 with one quarter remaining. Three-pointers by Demond Mallet and Guy Pnini further extended the lead to open the fourth quarter and Maccabi never looked back. Eliyahu paced Maccabi with 19 points, Pnini finished with 17, Theo Papaloukas tallied 11 points and 6 assists, Hendrix added 10 points and 8 rebounds and Tal Burstein was worth 9 points and 9 assists. Lacedarius Dunn paced Herzliya with 21 points and Carter accounted for 15 points and 11 assists. Hapoel Jerusalem routed BC Habikaa 87-61 to clinch a spot in the top six. Brian Randle led the way with 17 points and Dan Grunfeld added 15 as Jerusalem improved to 11-9. Meanwhile second-placed Galil edged Maccabi Ashdod 74-76, Maccabi Rishon Lezion edged Maccabi Haifa 102-105 in double overtime led by Joe Crawford’s 35 points and GreenTops Netanya routed Eldan Ashkelon 92-73 behind 25 points from Brian Asbury.
