David Blu - Maccabi ElectraDefending champs Maccabi Electra gave BC Habikaa another shellacking, 66-101, to take a 2-0 lead in their best-of-three Israeli League quarterfinals series. Maccabi Ashdod and Eldan Ashkelon also went up 2-0 in their quarterfinals matchups, but Hapoel Unet Holon eked out a 72-70 win against Hapoel Jerusalem to take a 1-1 tie in games. Maccabi jumped out front 17-33 and coasted the rest of the way against Habikaa, as six players scored in double figures, led by David Blu and Keith Langford, who netted 14 points apiece, while Guy Pnini had 13 and three players added 12 each – Devin Smith, Lior Eliyahu and Yogev Ohayon, who also dished out 7 assists. Maccabi Ashdod downed Altshuler Shaham Gilboa Galil 75-69 behind Josh Carter’s 20 points, and Eldan Ashkelon won its second consecutive 1-point victory over Maccabi Rishon Lezion, 81-80, as Marco Killingsworth poured in 23 points. Hapoel Unet Holon got 18 points from Bryant Dunston to pull out a 72-70 over rival Hapoel Jerusalem.
