Sammy Mejia - CSKA MoscowCSKA Moscow remains the dominant force in the Russian league after a pair of wins during the week. The Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four-bound side walloped Spartak-Primorye 66-90 on Tuesday and then pounded Krasnye Krylya 98-63 on Friday. Against Primorye, CSKA led by 13 after 10 minutes and 25 by halftime en route to an easy win. Darjus Lavrinovic led a well-balanced attack with 18 points in 15 minutes, Alexey Shved compiled 17 points and 8 boards and Milos Teodosic accounted for 15 points and 13 assists. On Friday CSKA put the game out of reach with a 35-14 first quarter and coasted the rest of the way. Sammy Mejia stepped up with a season-high 20 points, Viktor Khryapa netted 16 and Shved 13 as CSKA improved to 16-1. In Tuesday’s other game, Unics Kazan topped Krasnye Krylya 68-84. Vladimir Veremeenko dominated the paint with 22 points and 15 rebounds and Terrell Lyday tallied 16 points and 8 assists for Unics, which led 16-29 after 10 minutes and never looked back. Also during the week, Triumph bested Nizhniy Novgorod 70-83 led by Davon Jefferson’s 20 points.
