Turkish Cup Quarterfinals, Day 1: February 14, 2011
Esteban Batista - Anadolu EfesBanvit BK became the first team to reach the Turkish Cup semifinals by topping Tofas 81-78 in the first quarterfinal. Lance Williams led the winners with 19 points. Serkan Erdogan added 12 for Banvit. Jurica Zuza had 24 points for Tofas while Brad Buckman added 23. Erdogan and Kalin Lucas fueled a 6-1 run that allowed Banvit to get an early 16-11 edge late in the first quarter. A three-pointer by Lucas made Banvit keep a 21-16 margin after 10 minutes. Buckman and Zuza stepped up to put Tofas back ahead, 23-24. Baris Ermis and Williams led a 9-0 run that put Banvit ahead for good, 38-29. Lucas soon gave his team a double-digit lead, 45-35, at halftime. Back-to-back triples by Erdogan and Chuck Davis made it a 16-point game, 51-35. Buckman broke the rim with a dunk that brought Tofas within 65-57, forcing the game to be stopped for some minutes. A 0-12 run allowed Tofas to regain the lead, 74-75. Banvit held Tofas scoreless in the final 3 minutes, as Davis had 4 points in a final 5-0 run that made his team win the game down the stretch.

Anadolu Efes took the big quarterfinals showdown by downing archrivals Fenerbahce Ulker 82-69 in Konya on Thusday. Esteban Batista led the winners with 25 points. Sinan Guler added 19 while Dusko Savanovic and Oliver Lafayette each had 13 for Efes. Gasper Vidmar had 19 points for FB Ulker while Hakan Demirel added 13. Batista had 6 points in an 11-2 opening run that Lafayette capped with a three-pointer. Guler, Savanovic and Tarence Kinsey joined the three-point shootout to give Efes a double-digit lead, 24-14, after 10 minutes. Consecutive baskets by Vidmar and back-to-back triples by Engin Atsur brought FB Uler back to life, 28-26. A basket by Oguz savas completed his team's comeback, 37-38. A layup by Savanovic put Efes back ahead, 39-38, at halftime. A 9-0 run that Lafayette capped with free throws gave Efes some fresh air, 51-42. Fenerbahce improved its defense while Bogdanovic and Atsur helped their team to tie it at 54-54. Guler allowed Efes to restore a 61-55 margin after 30 minutes. A triple by Guler broke the game open, 70-58, with 7 minutes to go. Efes boosted its margin to 77-60 and cruised to a well-deserved win.
