FMP champ NIJT Belgrade 2010!

For the third year in a row, the winner of the Belgrade Nike International Junior Tournament is none other than host FMP, which downed INSEP 77-69 in Sunday's title game. FMP's victory will make one other team happy, too. Due to the fact that FMP is the reigning continental champion, and therefore had already been invited to the Nike International Junior Tournament in Paris, France from May 6 to 9, the automatic qualification it would have earned on Sunday will become a wild card to be awarded to another junior team. For the Nike International Junior Tournament in Paris, which takes place during the 2010 Euroleague Final Four, FMP joins two previous tournament winners who qualified earlier, Zalgiris Kaunas from the Citta di Roma in the Italian capital in late December and Cajasol from the Ciutat de L'Hospitalet tournament in Spain in early January. After a tight first half on Sunday, FMP used a 14-1 run over a nine-minute stretch after halftime to take control on the way to a comfortable victory. FMP was led by forward Nikola Siladi, the tournament MVP, who scored 12 points and added 6 rebounds in the title match. He finished with four-game averages of 13.4 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. The all-tournament team also included INSEP guard Mathis Keita (13.2 ppg., 5.6 apg. and 4.2 rpg.), Philipp Neumann of Brose Baskets (25.3 ppg., 8 rpg. and 2 bpg.), Buducnost forward Luka Radovic (15.6 ppg.,12.2 rpg.) and Luka Mitrovic of Hemofarm Stada (15 ppg., 6.8 rpg.) INSEP's Hugo Invernizzi won the three-point shootout contest while Siladi also won the dunk contest. Earlier, Buducnost beat Partizan 68-64 for third place.
