After putting the spotlight on himself with two great seasons in Partizan Belgrade, Milos Vujanic was drafted in the NBA. However, when everybody expected him to cross the Atlantic Ocean, he decided to stay in Europe some more seasons, and moved to Italy to join Skipper Bologna. With a combination of young but talented players with experienced veterans, including such names as Hanno Mottola, Erazem Lorbek, Gianluca Basile or Gianmarco Pozzecco, Skipper soared to make the Final Four which is also Vujanic's first. "I want my team to win every time." Vujanic said answering the Euroleague.net Fan Mail. "That's the only thing important to me. People only remember the victory."
Hello. I'm from Israel and I'm a big fan of Skipper. What do you think is the key to Skipper returning to Italy with the Euroleague trophy? Good luck, Milos. I'm with you!
"Thanks for your support. I think that the key for us will be our defense and the fast break. We are a fast team and we must be concentrated on defense for the entire game. We have shown that we play well in important games and we are a young team with lots of scorers. If we can use our speed for the fast break and on defense then I think we should have success."
Milos, what was the most dramatic game you participated in this season? What team would you like to meet in the final in case you reach it, and why? Thanks!
"We had so many games that were decided in the last second or in the last possession. It's hard to say which one, but I guess that against Pau-Orthez, when we earned the trip to the Final Four, was the best one for us. In the final I would like to play Maccabi because we match up better against them than against CSKA."
Hey, Milos. First of all congratulations! It will be great to see you at the Final Four in Tel Aviv. I'm a Maccabi fan from Israel. My question is: Who do you think will meet you in the final CSKA or Maccabi? Obviously, I believe you'll beat Siena. Best regards,
"I think that CSKA is a deeper team than Maccabi, but if you ask who will win then I think that Maccabi has an advantage because they play in front of their fans. But for me it doesn't matter who wins that game... it's just important that we win against Montepaschi and arrive in the final."
Hello Milos, What do you expect to find in the semifinal against Montepaschi? Do you think that the key will be stopping Vanterpool and Thornton? Best regards from Siena!
"We know what Montepaschi has. I think that it will be very important to stop Vanterpool and Thornton. They have both had great seasons until now. If we can stop them then we can expect to have good results in the game."
Ciao Milos, Many people thought that you might move to the NBA last season, but you stayed in Europe to play with Skipper and now you have reached your first Final Four. Is this the kind of big goal you hoped to reach by staying in Europe?
Gianmarco from Bologna
"Yes, definitely. It was a very good decision for me. This year was the first time that I played outside my country, Serbia and Montenegro. I had many options, but you saw what happened with the Knicks this season - they made trades every seven days - so this has turned out to be a great place for me. Playing in the Final Four is an amazing experience. It's my first Final Four in my first year outside Belgrade, so things are going well so far."
Hi Milos, At your young age you have already achieved many successes with basketball, and making this year's Final Four only makes that list longer. Which are your other aims in life other than basketball?
"There are many things that I like to do other than basketball, but to be honest I don't have much time for anything else. This year has been especially busy for me. Every three days we have a new game and even when the season ends I'll have just a couple of weeks to rest before I go to train with the National Team for the Olympics. I'm really just focused on winning trophies this season. My life off the court has been limited, but I like to listen to music. I like house music, R&B, Serbian music....I like many different kinds of music."
Hey Milos. How has your transition from Belgrade to Bologna been? What adjustments have you had to make in your game? Thanks,
Jurgen from Sweden
"The transition has been OK. Both places are great and this season has been good for us. The difference between Partizan and Skipper is that here there are many players who can score. I'm surrounded by players who can do many things on the court. I played for Partizan for two seasons and before that I played for Red Star. In my two seasons in the Euroleague with Partizan we never played in the Top 16, so this is new for me. I still try to play my game. That has not changed. My two seasons with Partizan were very good for me. I got my first Euroleague experience and had great coaching."
Ciao, Milos. I'm a big Skipper Bologna tifoso! We didn't expect the Final Four this year, but now that you are there, can this be the start of great years for us? Forza Skipper!
"I think that nobody expected the Final Four this season. We had a new team and needed a lot of time to get to know each other. In the Euroleague we had such a tough group with CSKA, Maccabi, Zalgiris, Montepaschi and we finished third. The Top 16 was easier for us because our opponents were not as difficult and we made the Final Four. I hope that we will stay together into the future, but now I am only thinking that we have two more Euroleague games to win!
Hello Milos. You are obviously a point guard with a hunger for scoring like mad. What do you prefer, to be the scorer or to be the one who seeks the clear pass so that one of your players can finish? Thanks,
"I just play my game. I try to do everything the best for the team. I know what I am good at and my teammates give me confidence to do what I can do on the court. For me, it doesn't matter the number of points or assists or rebounds that I get. I want my team to win every time. That's the only important thing for me. People only remember the victory."
Ciao Milos. Although the team has been a little irregular during the season, you also have had big road wins in Tel Aviv and Moscow. Do you think you are the underdog that everyone should fear? Good luck in the Final Four!
"Exactly, I think you're right. We have already played Siena four times. We've won two times and lost two times. There will be no surprises. Maccabi is organizing the Final Four so they have more pressure on them. CSKA is maybe the most expensive team in Europe, so they expect victory. We will go there relaxed with none of these pressures. We have played many good games on the road this season so I think that we can make the final game and in the final game I don't think that there is a favorite. Anything can happen."
Milos, who has defended you best of the other guards on CSKA, Montepaschi and Maccabi?
"Hmmmm, the best defender? Me! Only kidding. All the teams have very good point guards. For Maccabi, I think that sharp is the best defender against point guards. For Siena, Vanterpool is very tough on defense. For CSKA, Holden is not a bad defender because he's very quick."
