Nike IJT Group B report: Zalgiris Kaunas vs. Cibona
Zalgiris Kaunas advantaged unbeaten to the Nike Junior Tournament Final after its thrashing 96-46 win over Cibona Zagreb, third in as many games. Zalgiris will face BC FMP at tomorrow’s final. Six players of Zalgiris finished with double digits; Vaidas Cepukaitis and Donatas Motiejunas had 14 each, Sarunas Vasiliauskas added 13, Adas Juskevicius and Zygimantas Janavicius shared 12 and Vytenis Lipkevicius had 10. Cibona finished with 2-1 records and had to settle with elimination after this defeat. Dino Hodzic scored 12 for Cibona. Zalgiris used a tremendous 15-0 rally in the first period to run away 21-4 and never looked back. Cibona reacted to close 24-11 the quarter, but Zalgiris continued to run the floor and found easy points. By halftime the scoreboard stood at 47-20. Thing didn’t change at the second half, too. Zalgiris finished the game with an incredible 70% from inside the arc, whereas Cibona struggled to get connected and was forced to 25% from the field.
