Coming of an All-Euroleague rookie season, Aleks Maric arrived in Athens over the summer as a prized signing to fortify the middle for the Greens. A series of injuries derailed his season and limited him to just eight appearances off the bench, but there is no doubt as his impact whenever he was on the floor. In fact, Maric's per-minute stats would have led the Euroleague in rebounding and performance index rating if he had played enough. Maric proved to be a key factor in the championship game, coming off the bench early to help stifle center Sofoklis Schortsanitis of Maccabi Electra, the man that replaced him on the All-Euroleague First Team. Maric kept Big Sofo scoreless in seven first-half minutes and also contributed a key blocked shot as Panathinaikos controlled the paint early and set the tone for a title-winning victory that was worth his first Euroleague title.
