Tribute to the champs, Panathinaikos: Drew Nicholas!
Perhaps more than any other player, Drew Nicholas symbolizes what it takes to win with Panathinaikos, namely a total commitment to a team-first philosophy. A former Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy winner, Nicholas joined the Greens last summer knowing that he would sacrifice personal glory for victories and a title shot. That sacrifice paid mighty dividends in Berlin when he lifted his first Euroleague crown and joined an exclusive list of four players to win both the NCAA championship and the Euroleague title. Nicholas’s extraordinary scoring ability remained on display all season as he tied for the fourth-most three-pointers made in the the Euroleague. He also improved his scoring average from the regular season to the Top 16 to the Quarterfinal Playoffs, becoming a key contributor to the late-season momentum that drove the Greens to the top!
