Tribute to the champs, Panathinaikos: Fragiskos Alvertis!
A legend in the sunset of an unprecedented career, Fragiskos Alvertis used his outstanding experience to play an inspirational role even without a uniformas chief motivator for the Greens in Berlin. During his 19th season with Panathinaikos, Alvertis was much more than a player. Even though he stepped on court only for the first regular season game against Zalgiris, his contribution for Panathinaikos was priceless as he kept teammates focused and inspired through the highs and lows of a long, challenging season. In Berlin, Alvertis held a place of honor in the team's post-game celebration. Upon the team's return to Athens, he received a special reception from fans who know him as the club's all-time icon. Panathinaikos has won five Euroleague titles - all with Alvertis around. Even when his role has been different this season, few players - if any - in European basketball history have meant more than Alvertis has for the Greens.
