Tribute to the champs, Panathinaikos: Zeljko Obradovic!

May 18, 2009 by Euroleague.net Print
With two narrow victories at the 2009 Final Four in Berlin, Panathinaikos head coach Zeljko Obradovic vaulted to his seventh Euroleague crown and to even loftier heights among the sport's greatest coaches. Obradovic has three more Euroleague titles than any other coach in competition history. Add in his Saporta Cup crowns, domestic league and cup titles, not to mention Olympics, World and European championships medals, and Obradovic's record of success is unsurpassed by anyone in the coaching world. Even more impressive is that he has amassed all this precious hardware in fewer than two decades on the bench. His four Euroleague titles in 10 seasons at Panathinaikos have made the Greens the most successful team in modern European basketball. Despite having already set the standard for greatness in coaching, Obradovic remains young and hungry, which means that generations may pass before his record of success can be challenged.
