Pavel Korobkov made big contributions during the season when he was called on to help fill the shoes of injured center Joel Freeland. Korobkov also missed time due to injury and could not help the team in the playoffs. Coach Dimitris Itoudis knew about his importance as Kyle Hines's backup and gave him significant playing time in the championship game against Fenerbahce Istanbul. Seconds after stepping on court late in the first quarter, Korobkov grabbed an offensive rebound and fed Victor Khryapa for a mid-range jumper, and went on to collect a steal early in the second quarter. He left the game in the third quarter, with his team up 45-63, and didn't return after that. Korobkov committed 4 fouls too, from which Ekpe Udoh and Jan Vesely shot a combined 1 of 4 from the free throw line. Though Korobkov was out of the spotlight, his dirty work and hustle off the bench were keys to CSKA's success in Berlin.
