Tribute to the Champs: Kostas Sloukas
He has been to five of the last six Final Fours, reached the championship game each time and just won his third Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title. At age 27, Kostas Sloukas has accomplished more than most players achieve in their entire lifetimes. Sloukas played a key role off the bench at this Final Four, providing playmaking, scoring, defense and leadership as needed. Sloukas had 9 points and 3 rebounds in his team's semifinal win against Real Madrid. In the championship game versus his former team, Olympiacos Piraeus, Sloukas shot less, but dished 5 assists. When the dust settled, Sloukas had added a third EuroLeague crown to the ones he won with Olympiacos in 2012 and 2013. Istanbul and Sinan Erdem Dome have witnessed two of his three EuroLeague crowns. Sloukas finished the season with averages of 9.2 points and 4.5 assists, which were both a career-highs, on 42.9% three-point shooting in 29 EuroLeague games. Now entering the prime of his career, Sloukas is well-positioned to go down as one of the biggest winners in six decades of European club basketball.
