Tribute to the Champs: Melih Mahmutoglu
His name will be forever linked to one of Turkish basketball's biggest successes; Melih Mahmutoglu had the honor, as team captain, to raise the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague trophy first and he did it with gusto. Although Mahmutoglu played a limited role in the playoffs and the Final Four - a total of two minutes and 45 seconds, he had a big role in helping Fenerbahce get there. Mahmutoglou scored 10 points off the bench in an early home win against Anadolu Efes Istanbul, and shot 4 for 4 from beyond the arc on his way to 14 points in a road triumph against Zalgiris Kaunas. He played at least 10 minutes in 10 different regular season games and scored in double figures four times. Mahmutoglu averaged 4.0 points on 43.8 three-point shooting in 20 EuroLeague games and when it was all over, he truly ran the show in the on-court celebrations!
