Final Four game officials named
The names of the eight referees who will work the 2008 Final Four in Madrid have been announced by the Euroleague. The full list of referees includes: Recep Ankarali (Turkey), Romualdas Brazauskas (Lithuania), Srdan Dozai (Croatia), Spiros Gkontas (Greece), Dani Hierrezuelo (Spain), Carl Jungebrand (Finland), Stelios Koukoulekidis (Greece) and Boris Ryzhyk (Ukraine). Returning from last year's crew is Ryzhyk, while Brazauskas (three times), Jungebrand (two) and Koukoulekidis (one) have all whistled in Final Fours since the 2001-02 season. Hierrezuelo and Gkontas are both working their first Final Fours. By assigning newcomers to the Final Four officiating crew, the Euroleague aims both to reward professional competency and diversify the pool of referees with experience in Europe's top basketball event. Along with refereeing assignments, the appointment of two game commissioners for the Final Four was announced. They are Goran Radonjic (France) and Ricardo Salguero (Spain). The Final Four will be held from Friday May 2 to Sunday May 4 at the Community of Madrid Sports Palace in the Spanish capital and features the four teams: CSKA Moscow, Tau Ceramica, Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv and Montepaschi Siena.
