The Euroleague Basketball Nike International Junior Tournament kicked off on Thursday morning at the Magariños arena in Madrid with a 73-69 win of AXA FC Barcelona over Red Star Belgrade. Barcelona missed its big star Nihad Dedovic and had point guard Daniel Perez play with an injured shooting hand, but found the path to collect 19 points, six assists, six steals and four rebounds to lead his team for a key win in the tournament opener. Red Star led the entire first half, but couldn't find an answer to AXA's back court. Next up today Cibona Zagreb will take on Lietuvos Rytas, FMP Zeleznik will face Maccabi Teddy Tel Aviv while Real Madrid and Zalgiris Kaunas will close the day.
