The best players of the 2009-10 Euroleague Basketball season were honored on Saturday night at the annual Euroleague Basketball Awards Ceremony held at the historic Paris city hall, Hôtel de Ville. Twenty-four hours before a new Euroleague champion will be crowned, a who's who of the world basketball elite came together to celebrate another spectacular season in a one-of-a-kind setting, the spectacular Salle de Fêtes, modelled after the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles. Olympiacos guard Milos Teodosic was voted the 2009-10 Euroleague MVP after a breakout season for the Reds. Teodosic was joined on the 2009-10 All-Euroleague First Team by Olympiacos teammate Linas Kleiza at forward, Regal FC Barcelona guard Juan Carlos Navarro, CSKA Moscow forward Viktor Khryapa and Partizan Belgrade center Aleks Maric. It is a first-time honor for all but Navarro, the 2009 Euroleague MVP, who was named All-Euroleague First Team for the fourth time. Kleiza, the Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy winner, and Khryapa, the Euroleague Best Defender Trophy winner, also received those awards, as did Rising Star Trophy Winner Ricky Rubio of Barcelona, the youngest winner of an end-of-season award ever in the Euroleague.

If there is one amazing show on the court at the Final Four, something that couldn't have been any clearer after Friday night's electric semifinals, there is no forgetting the other, equally amazing show off court this week in Paris. Euroleague fans live every moment of the competition just as intensely as their heroes in uniform, and at the season's high point here, that means not only off the court but all around Paris.

Saturday's festivities have started with the official press conference between finalists Regal FC Barcelona and Olympiacos Pireaus, where for more than an hour, hundreds of media questioned the team's head coaches and two star players, Pete Mickeal and Theo Papaloukas, respectively. One anecdote told it all about the history between these two teams: Barcelona coach Xavi Pascual recalled that the same final was played in 1997. As a young coach he drove 1,500 kilometers from Barcelona to Rome to witness it, but his team lost to Olympiacos. "I remember that sense of defeat," Pascual said, "and we must do our best to prevent our fans who came all the way to Paris from having the same feeling, too."

After a breathtaking Friday and two spectacular semifinals, the action in Paris rolls on Saturday. The drama built of throughout the day Friday, with the buzz growing around the Bercy area until tip off of the first semifinal, which proved to be a tough and physical encounter that Regal FC Barcelona took over CSKA Moscow after 40 bruising minutes. The nightcap was even more entertaining as Olympiacos needed a game-saving rebound and dunk from Josh Childress to force overtime before ousting Partizan in one of the most-exciting Final Four games ever and the first semifinal to go to an extra period since 2004. Building on that Saturday features a number of highlights to as the basketball energy in Paris continues to flow. The who’s who of basketball will be at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy to catch the Nike International Junior Tournament throughout the day. In the afternoon, the coaches and stars of the two finalists will also come to Bercy for the annual press conference. Later in the day, the Euroleague and Nike will present a Player Development Clinic led by trainer Christopher Thomas. The early evening hours will also see the teams practicing. And the day will climax with the Euroleague Awards Dinner at the Hotel de Ville, where the All-Euroleague team and the 2010 Euroleague MVP will be announced.
