Did you know...? Olympiacos
OlympiacosOlympiacos has the chance to win its second Euroleague title? Olympiacos lifted the trophy in 1997, downing FC Barcelona 73-58 in the title game. It had previously reached the final in 1994 and 1995, losing against DKV Joventut and Real Madrid, respectively.

Theo Papaloukas has the chance to win his second Final Four MVP award? Papaloukas, the Euroleague's all-time leader in assists and steals, was the 2006 Final Four MVP in Prague. Only Toni Kukoc (1990, 1991, 1993) and Dejan Bodiroga (2002, 2003) have won multiple Final Four MVP awards.

Nikola Vujcic will appear in his fifth Euroleague final? He made it to the Euroleague title game four times with Maccabi (2004-06, 2008) and is now back with Olympiacos. Yotam Halperin (Maccabi 2004-05, 2008) and Papaloukas (CSKA 2006-08) are in their fourth Euroleague final.

Linas Kleiza is the Alphonso Ford Top Scorer trophy winner (17.3 ppg.). Since the awards structure was chosen before the start of the 2004-05 season, however, no Ford Trophy winner has led his team to the Euroleague title.

Nikola Vujcic, Halperin and Papaloukas are two-time Euroleague winners? Vujcic and Halperin won back-to-back Euroleague titles with Maccabi in 2004 and 2005. Meanwhile, Papaloukas led CSKA to lift the Euroleague trophy in 2006 and 2008 - the club's only top continental titles in more than three decades.

Coach Giannakis has the chance to join a exclusive list of Euroleague winners as coach and player. Only Armenak Alachachan (CSKA 1961, 1963; CSKA 1969), Lolo Sainz (Real Madrid 1964-65, 1967-68; Madrid 1978, 1980) and Svetislav Pesic (Bosna 1979; Barcelona 2003) have accomplished that feat.

Papaloukas is a member of an impressive list of players to win the Euroleague title while also being a European champion with their respective national teams? Papaloukas won the gold medal at EuroBasket 2005 with Greece and the Euroleague title with CSKA in 2006. Ten other players have been both Euroleague and European champions simultaneously in the last decade: J.R. Holden, Viktor Khryapa, Zakhar Pashutin, Sarunas Jasikevicius, Dejan Bodiroga, Marko Jaric, Nikos Hatzivrettas, Demos Dikoudis, Kostas Tsartsaris and Dimitris Diamantidis. Ricky Rubio and Juan Carlos Navarro (Spain 2009) can join that list if Regal FC Barcelona lifts the trophy.

Giannakis can join an exclusive list of coaches that won the Euroleague and the EuroBasket titles. Only eight coaches managed to do it in the past: Aleksandar Gomelskiy, Mirko Novosel, Aca Nikolic, Sandro Gamba, Dusan Ivkovic, Svetislav Pesic, Zeljko Obradovic and Bogdan Tanjevic – the last one to do it (Bosna Sarajevo 1979; Italy 1999).
