The 31st annual Torneig de Básquet Júnior "Ciutat de L'Hospitalet", in suburban Barcelona, takes the stage next between January 4 and 6, 2010. Organized by CB L'Hospitalet, the tournament is a time-tested holiday magnet for teams, fans and scouts from all over Europe and beyond. This edition, to be played at three different arenas around town, features 12 teams split into four groups, including defending champion Lietuvos Rytas, which also finished as runner-up at the finals in Berlin last spring. Two teams form Spain and one from outside the country are in each of the four groups. The Spanish teams are DKV Joventut, Valencia Basket, Regal FC Barcelona, Caja de Canarias, Unicaja, Estudiantes, Real Madrid and CB L’Hospitalet. From out of Spain are KK Split of Croatia, Alba Berlin of Germany, Lietuvos Rytas of Lithuania and Aris Thessaloniki of Greece. Unicaja has been runner-up in this tournament three times during the decade, including last season, so should be a team to watch. Five of the Spanish teams - Barcelona, Madrid, Estudiantes, Joventut and Unicaja - share in 21 of the previous 30 titles. However, six of the last eight winners have been foreign clubs. The tournament winner will acvance to the Nike International Junior Tournament at the 2010 Final Four in Paris from May 7-9.
