Panagiotis Yannakis (1976-1996)

Teams: Ionikos (GRE), Aris (GRE), Panionios (GRE), Panathinaikos (GRE) Summary: A passionate, hard-working guard and a true floor general, Panagiotis Yannakis helped change Greek basketball forever. He started his career at Ionikos before joining Aris in the mid-1980s. Yannakis guided Aris to seven consecutive Greek league titles alongside the great Nikos Galis. He also won six Greek Cup trophies, the 1993 Saporta Cup and reached three straight Euroleague Final Fours from 1989 to 1991. Yannakis played one season with Panionios before finishing his career at Panathinaikos, where he won the 1996 Euroleague title. He and Galis also helped Greece to gold at EuroBasket 1987 in epic fashion. |
