EUROLEAGUE ALL-DECADE CANDIDATE: Fragiskos Alvertis
The iconic leader of the decade’s winningest club, long-time Panathinaikos captain Fragiskos Alvertis helped march the Greens to three Euroleague crowns since 2000. A dead-eyed three-point marksman in the body of a power forward, Alvertis was among the team’s leading scorers from 2000 to 2003 as a part-time starter. As a potent shooting specialist in the middle of the decade, he ranked second in the Euroleague for three-point accuracy in both the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons. As important as his on-court presence was to the Greens’ success, the now-retired Alvertis was a symbol of Panathinaikos pride in a decade when the club reached the status of dynasty.
