EUROLEAGUE ALL-DECADE CANDIDATE: Derrick Sharp
Derrick Sharp will go down in history as the author of one of the most important and most famous shots ever made on a basketball court – his last-second game-tying triple in the Top 16 that saved Maccabi Tel Aviv’s 2004 season and led to the continent's first of back-to-back titles in a generation. The long-time Maccabi captain is more than just The Shot, however. He was a key on- and-off court leader throughout Maccabi's resurgence this decade. In a limited role, Sharp was one of the Euroleague’s premier on-the-ball defenders and spot-up three-point shooters, but always good for the key shot when needed. In the locker room, he helped newcomers adjust to the team and helped Maccabi grow together to a tally of continental titles and Final Four appearances few players can match.
