EUROLEAGUE ALL-DECADE CANDIDATE: David Vanterpool
Like a jolt of adrenaline at both ends of the floor, David Vanterpool arrived in the middle of the decade and in quick succession led both of his Euroleague teams to new heights. Vanterpool packed a lot of success into four short Euroleague seasons. In his first, he led Montepaschi Siena to the 2004 title game while being named to the All-Euroleague second team. Two years later, he was back on the Final Four stage with CSKA, a full-time starter on a star-studded roster, making key passes, shots and stops until the club had won its first continental title in 35 years. Though he stopped playing the next season and became a coach, Vanterpool's imprint on the competition was already indelible.
