The venue: Kunshan New Stadium
Kunshan New Stadium - Kunshan China Located in the west part of Kunshan City, the newly built Kunshan Stadium covers almost 400,000 square meters and uses the city flower of Kunshan - called the "rare flower" - as architectural inspiration. A bit removed from the downtown area, the stadium is known for its impeccable surroundings of clean air and green landscaping. The 6,000 seat arena has previously hosted major basketball events, most recently the 2006 edition of the Boris Stankovic Cup tournament. Next to the state-of-the-art sports arena itself, the local government plans to build a five-star hotel and an international conference center. The design of the stadium is adapted from a very traditional Chinese architectural feature combined with some modern concepts and technical innovations. In the end, the first impression that visitors get of the building is, indeed, one of a unique and beautiful flower.
