Lietuvos Rytas stays atop the Baltic League standings with a perfect 6-0 record by registered back-to-back wins this week. L.Rytas downed Naptunas 79-64 in Vilnius on Thursday. Matt Nielsen led the winners with 12 points while Arturas Jomantas and Andrius Slezas each had 10 for Rytas, that led 27-12 after 10 minutes and never looked back. L.Rytas had to battle harder to edge ASK Riga 75-79 on the road on Saturday. Hollis Price paced the winners with 22 points, Kenan Bajramovic added 15, Jomantas had 13, Martyns Gecevicius 12 and Marijonas Petravicius 11 for Rytas. Dwayne Broyles had 21 points for ASK, Sandis Buskevics added 18, Sandis Valters 13 and Aerick Sanders 10. Both teams were tied at 64-64 midway through the final period, but Price and Gecevicius hit back-to-back triples to put Rytas ahead for good. Price took over with 6 unanswered points that sealed the outcome down the stretch. ASK and Siauliai are now tied for the second place at 4-1.
Siauliai had to battle hard to edge Valmiera 82-81 at home on Friday. Jose Olivero paced the winners with 25 points on 10-of-11 two-pointers. Antonio Grant added 14 while Aurimas Kieza and Gediminas Maceina each had 11 for Siauliai for rallied from an eight-point deficit in the final 6 minutes. Olivero scored the game-winning shot with 22 seconds to go. Siauliai capped a perfect weekend with a 93-82 home win against BC Kalev. Olivero and Grant paced the winners each with 21 points. Mantas Ruikis added 12 while Saulius Kuzminskas had 11 for Siauliai. Travis Reed led Kalev with 20 points, Marlon Palmer added 17 and Martin Viiask 12. Reed got Kalev as close as 69-63 early in the fourth quarter, but a 9-2 run that Olivero capped with a jumper broke the game open for good. In other games, Neptunas downed Barons/LMT 91-86 on Wednesday. Barons/LMT bounced back by beating Valmiera 94-77 on Sunday.
