Latvian League, Game 2: October 20-27, 2007
Ventspils and ASK Riga now lead the Lavtian League standings, each with a 2-0 record. Ventspils did not play this week, as its next Latvian League game is scheduled on December 8. Meanwhile, ASK Riga had to battle harder than expected to edge VEF Riga 75-66 in the Latvian capital on Friday. A.J. Bramlett paced the winners with 17 points. Dwayne Broyles added 15 while Sandis Valters and Sandis Buskevics each had 10 for ASK Riga, that led 15-12 after 10 minutes. ASK boosted its margin to 35-25 at halftime and then again to 58-42 after 30 minutes. VEF only managed to rally once the outcome was clear behind former CSKA junior star Maxim Sheleketo. It was also a successful week for Liepaja, as it downed Bumerangs 90-70 on Wednesday behind 34 points from Mareks Jurevicus and then thrashed Keizarmezs 79-61 with 29 points from Stephen Rich. Liepaja is third in the standings at 3-1.
