Action returned to the Latvian League without its two ULEB Cup teams, ASK Riga and Ventspils, that had to take part in the Baltic League this weekend. Even with that, ASK Riga keeps leading the standings with a 3-0 record with Ventspils right behind at 2-0. Barons/LMT improved to 3-1 by downing VEF 76-68 at home on Wednesday. Demetrius Alexander paced the winners with 18 points and 21 rebounds. Kaspars Berzins added 14 while Giedrius Gustas had 10 for Barons, that led 62-45 after three quarters and held off a wild VEF rally to add a big win. VEF had downed Bumerangs 110-73 on Monday behind 31 points on 7-of-8 triples by Maxim Shekeleto but dropped to 3-4 due to a 78-81 home loss against Valmiera on Saturday. In other games, Valmiera edged Liepaja 78-83 while Bumerangs thrashed Keizarmezs 84-68.
