Zalgiris Kaunas stayed as the only team unbeaten in the Baltic League with a 8-0 record by edging Ventspils 76-68 in Kaunas on Saturday. Marko Popovic led the winners with 22 points, Goran Jurak added 12 while a recovered Eurelijus Zukauskas had 11 for Zalgiris, that led 59-44 after 30 minutes. Jimmy Baxter had 18 points for Ventspils while Akinlolu Akingbala added 10 for the guests, who did not recover in the fourth quarter and dropped to 3-6 in the standings. Lietuvos Rytas improved to 8-1 by edging Tartu Rock 74-77 on the road also on Saturday. Kenan Bajramovic led the winners with 20 points, Marijus Petravicius added 15 while Chuck Eidson and Mindaugas Lukauskis each had 10 for Rytas, that trailed 45-36 at halftime. A three-point play by Petravicius and a triple by Bajramovic allowed the guests to complete their comeback, 60-61, after 20 minutes. Eidson, Lukauskis and once again Bajramovic helped Rytas to escape with a win. Siauliai improved to 7-3 by thrashing Neptunas 101-69 at home on Saturday behind 18 points from Marius Prekevicius. Donatas Zavackas and Antonio Grant each added 16 while Arturas Masiulis and Jose Olivero had 10 apiece in an easy home win for Siauliai, that used a 37-11 third-quarter partial to break the game open. ASK Riga improved to 8-2 by downing Valmiera 81-69 at home on Friday. Raitis Grafs had 16 points for ASK while Aerick Sanders, Marko Antonijevic, Dwayne Broyles and Gatis Jahovic each added 11 for the winners, who led 47-28 at halftime and never looked back. In other games, Valmiera thrashed Neptunas 89-67 behind 28 points and 15 rebounds from Vladimir Stimac.
