French League, Game 14: January 11-13, 2008
Robert Conley - Asvel Basket Nothing changed atop the French League standings, as Adecco Asvel and Sluc Nancy keep tying atop the league table at 11-3. Adecco Asvel needed overtime to edge Clermont 85-87 on the road on Saturday. Robert Conley had 7 unanswered points to force overtime and the game-winning free throws at the end of the extra period. Meanwhile, Nancy thrashed 88-68 at home also on Saturday behind 20 points from Jeff Greer. Chorale Roanne, Vichy and Le Mans tie for the third place at 9-5. Roanne beat Paris 79-86 behind 19 points from Brion Rush, while Le Mans simply overwhelmed Vichy 49-78 on the road on Sunday. Luka Bogdanovic led Le Mans with 18 points. Elan Chalon improved by thrashing Gravelines 85-69 at home on Saturday. John Ford paced the winners with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Strasbourg moved to 8-6 by topping 83-75 at home with 20 points from Afik Nissim. Pau-Orthez dropped to 4-10 due to a 74-64 road loss against Hyeres-Toulon. In other games, Orleans edged Dijon 83-88 on Friday behind 25 points from Brandon Heath.

Adecco Asvel needed overtime to down Clermont 85-87 on the road on Saturday. Conley became the game hero, as he had all points in a 0-7 final run that allowed Asvel to force overtime, 74-74, and then sealed the outcome with more foul shots in the extra period. He led the winners with 21 points, Lamayn Wilson added 17, Aymeric Jeanneau had 15 while Yohann Sangare got 13 for Asvel, that trailed 74-67 with 2 minutes to go in regulation. Conley followed a triple with 4-for-4 free throws to keep Asvel alive, 74-74. Clermont rallied from a seven-point deficit in the extra period to tie it at 85-85 but once again Conley sealed the outcome. Sluc Nancy had less troubles to thrash Cholet 88-68 at home also on Saturday. Jeff Greer paced the winners with 20 points. Victor Samnick added 15, Zab Dowdell had 13, Michael Bauer 12 and Pape Amagou 10. Nancy led 42-22 after the break, but Jeff Greer and Dowdell allowed the hosts to get a 64-54 edge after 30 minutes and Cholet did not recover. Chorale Roanne now ties for the third place at 9-5 by beating Paris 79-86 on Friday behind 19 points from Rush. Pape Badiane added 15, Adam Hess had 11 while Marc Salyers and Laurent Cazalon each got 10 for Roanne, that led 54-66 after 30 minutes and held off a shy Paris rally to add another win.

Elan Chalon moved up to 5-9 by thrashing Gravelines 85-69 at home on Saturday. Ford paced the winners with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Bryan Bracey added 18, Philippe Braud and Rowan Barrett each had 13 while Darrel Mitchell got 10 for Chalon, that led 46-44 early in the third quarter. A three-pointer by Braud sparked a 15-2 run that he capped with a dunk for a 61-46 Chalon lead, enough to stay ahead until the final buzzer. Strasbourg improved to 8-6 by edging Le Havre 83-75 at home. Nissim led the winners with 20 points, Aaron Pettway added 16 and 11 rebounds, Rob Lewin had 13 points while Eddie Shannon also posted a double-double of 12 points and 10 assists for Strasbourg, that trailed 40-41 after the break. Pettway and Nissim had all points in a 13-0 run that put the hosts ahead for good. Strasbourg soon boosted its margin to 70-48 to seal the outcome. Pau-Orthez dropped to 4-10 due to a 74-64 road loss against Hyeres-Toulon. Sean Colson led the hosts with 27 points. Deji Akindele had 13 points for Pau while Max Stanic added 11. Akindele tied the game at 51-51, but a 14-3 run allowed Hyeres-Toulon to seal the outcome. Le Mans improved to 9-5 by thrashing Vichy 49-78 on the road on Sunday. Luka Bogdanovic paced the winners with 18 points on 4-for-5 three-pointers while Phil Ricci and Nicolas Batum each added 12 for Le Mans, that led 20-35 at halftime. Bokolo, Bogdanovic and a final triple by Limonad allowed Le Mans to seal the outcome, 34-59, after 30 minutes.
