German League, Regular Season, Game 16: January 11-13, 2008
Julius Jenkins - Alba Berlin Alba Berlin held off Walter Tigers Tubingen to remain in sole possession of first place in the German League, while the Artland Dragons used a huge fourth quarter to surge past Bayer Giants Leverkusen and knock them from a tie for second place. Berlin remained undefeated at home after Julius Jenkins posted 29 points, including a big basket in the closing seconds to secure a 91-86 win. Leading just 58-56 heading into the fourth quarter, the Dragons outscored Bayer Giants Leverkusen 28-11 in the last 10 minutes to improve to 12-4. Adam Chubb came off the bench for 17 points and 11 rebounds and Chad Prewitt had 14 points and 11 boards to lead the Dragons. Defending champion Brose Baskets Bamberg held off a late rally by TBB Trier for a 71-73 road win. Mithat Demirel made 2 free throws with 4 seconds remaining to seal the win. The Deutsche Bank Skyliners came from behind to beat ratiopharm Ulm 83-87 on the road. The game was close from start to finish, but a well-balanced Frankfurt attack featuring six scorers in double figures proved to be enough for the win. Telekom Baskets Bonn outscored the Koln 99ers 26-42 in the middle two quarters to win 60-77. John Bowler led Bonn with 20 points.EnBW Ludwigsburg started the fourth quarter trailing by 5, but pulled away down the stretch for a 79-88 road win at Giessen 46ers. Brandon Woudstra scored 20 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 7 assists to lead Ludwigsburg. In other games, EWE Baskets Oldenburg beat Science City Jena 52-68 and Eisbaren Bremerhaven edged digibu Baskets 83-82.

Alba Berlin held off Walter Tigers Tubingen to remain in sole possession of first place in the German League. The game was close throughout and tied at 86-86 with 35 seconds remaining. However Julius Jenkins put the hosts ahead for good and Dijon Thompson followed with a key free throw to wrap up the win. Jenkins made 11 of 13 field goals on his way to 29 points, marking the third straight game that he’s had at least 25. Thompson finished with 16 points and 9 rebounds, Patrick Femerling added 14 points and Goran Nikolic 11, while Bobbt Brown finished with a season-low 3 points in 27 minutes. Patrick Sparks paced the Tigers with 25 and Rasko Katic added 19.

The Artland Dragons used a huge fourth quarter to win the battle for second place. Leon Rodgers, who made his Artland debut, John Goldsberry and Lamont McIntosh also added 10 points apiece. Eric Taylor had 19 points and Brendan Winters 14 points and 11 boards for Leverkusen.

In his first German League appearance this season, Mithat Demirel made 2 free throws with 4 seconds remaining to seal the win. Bamberg led 32-36 at halftime and increased that to 49-61 heading into the fourth quarter, but big play from Christian Hoffmann on both sides of the floor carried the hosts back to tie the game at 71-71 all. Hoffmann then committed his fifth personal foul on Demirel and after the big free throws, the hosts were unable to score one more basket. Steffen Hamann led Bamberg with 20 points, Robert Garrett added 17 and Darren Fenn 11 for the winners, while James Gillingham netted 18 and Caleb Green 17 in defeat.

Dru Joyce paced Ulm with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Telekom Baskets Bonn outscored the Koln 99ers 26-42 in the middle two quarters to win 60-77. Koln struggled with its shooting, going 4-for-22 from downtown (18.2%). John Bowler led Bonn with 20 points and Johannes Strasser added 13. Aleksandar Nadjfeji had 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for Koln and Toby Bailey and Immanuel McElroy scored 10 apiece. EnBW Ludwigsburg started the fourth quarter trailing by 5, but pulled away down the stretch for a 79-88 road win at Giessen 46ers. Brandon Woudstra scored 20 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 7 assists to lead Ludwigsburg. Ronald Ross added 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting and Jason Dourisseau had 16. Michael Umeh paced Giessen with 19 in defeat.
