Khimki and CSKA now atop the Russian League standings, each with a 13-1 record. Khimki downed Spartak Primorie 106-92 at home on Saturday. Daniel Ewing paced the winners with 21 points. Mike Wilkinson added 19, Vitaliy Fridzon had 13, Anton Ponkrashov got 12 while Maciej Lampe had 10 for Khimki, that led 48-32 at halftime. Back-to-back baskets by Ponkrashov sealed the outcome, 93-67, with 6 minutes to go. On the other hand, CSKA did not play and dedicated this weekend to honour Aleksandar Gomelskiy, the father of Russian and Soviet basketball, who would have turned 80 on Friday. Dynamo Moscow needed overtime to edge University Surgut 107-94 and improve to 10-4 in the standings. Sergei Bykov led the winners with 23 points, Antonis Fotsis added 20, Milos Vujanic posted a double-double of 17 points and 10 assists, Travis Hansen and Henry Domercant each had 13 points while Sergey Monya got 10 for Dynamo, that saw an eight-point lead disappear in the final 3 minutes of regulation when Sergey Krasnikov scored to force overtime, 88-88. Dynamo opened the extra period with a 14-1 run and never looked back. Unics improved to 9-5 by edging Ural Great 63-61 in Kazan on Saturday. Dusko Savanovic paced the winners with 17 points, Nikolai Padius added 15 while Tariq Kirksay got 12 for Unics. Ural rallied froma double-digit deficit in the final 7 minutes to tie it at 61-61 but Padius rescued Unics with the game-winning basket. In other games, Enisey beat Spartak St. Petersburg 76-81 while Samara topped SibirTelekom 81-97.
