French League, Game 15: January 18-20, 2008
Brion Rush - Chorale Roanne Asvel Basket and Sluc Nancy won their respective game and keep tying atop the French League standings with a 12-3 record, two wins away from Le Mans and Chorale Roanne, third at 10-5. Asvel beat Paris-Levallois 86-76 at home on Friday. Uche Nsonwu paced the winners with 20 points and 13 rebounds while Lamayn Wilson added 17 points for Asvel. Meanwhile, Nancy topped difficult Vichy 62-76 on the road also on Friday behind 20 points and 10 rebounds from Ricardo Greer. Chorale Roanne improved to 10-5 by thrashing Elan Chalon 97-72 at home on Sunday. Brion Rush paced Chorale with 20 points, Adam Hess added 17 while Darrel Mitchell had 19 points for Chalon. Le Mans did not find much trouble to down Strasbourg 85-69 at home on Saturday. Luka Bogdanovic led way for Le Mans with 22 points while Nicolas Batum added 18. Pau-Orthez improved to 5-10 by edging Gravelines 85-91 on the road on Saturday. Antonio Graves led the winners with 30 points while Jeff Trepagnier added 17. In other games, Orleans edge Hyeres-Toulon 80-75, Le Havre thrashed Dijon 95-78 while Cholet beat Clermont 75-67.

Asvel Basket kept leading the standings at 12-3 by beating Paris-Levallois 86-76 at home on Friday. Nsonwu paced the winners with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Wilson added 17 points, Chevon Troutman had 13, Robert Conley 12 and Aymeric Jeanneau 11 for Asvel, that trailed 50-53 late in the third quarter. Wilson buried three triples in a 14-2 run that put Asvel ahead for good, 64-55. Asvel soon boosted its margin to 74-60 and cruised to a well-deserved win. Sluc Nancy also improved to 12-3 to tie for first place by downing Vichy 62-76 on the road also on Friday. Ricardo Greer led the winners with 20 points and 10 rebounds while Victor Samnick and Cyril Julian each added 10 points for Nancy, that trailed 39-38 midway through the third quarter. Michael Bauer and Jeff Greer fueled a 4-15 run that gave Nancy a 42-53 margin after 30 minutes. Vichy did not recover, as Nancy only allowed 6 points in as many minutes to seal the outcome. Pau-Orthez improved to 5-10 by edging Gravelines 85-91 on the road on Saturday. Graves led the winners with 30 points, Trepagnier added 17 while Antuwane Robinson had 13 for Pau, that trailed 80-77 with 4 minutes to go. Trepagnier and Robinson combined for all points in a 2-11 run that sealed the outcome down the stretch.

Chorale Roanne improved to 10-5 and tied with Le Mans for third place by thrashing Elan Chalon 97-72 at home on Sunday. Rush paced the winners with 20 points, Hess added 17, Laurent Cazalon and Pierric Poupet each had 13 while Marc Salyers got 12 for Roanne. Mitchell had 19 points for Chalon while Bryan Bracey added 12. Roanne led 48-37 at halftime and only allowed 11 points in the third quarter. Meanwhile, a mamooth 22-0 run that Poupet capped with a triple broke the game open, 74-48, early in the fourth quarter. Le Mans did not find much trouble to down Strasbourg 85-69 at home on Saturday. Bogdanovic led way for Le Mans with 22 points. Batum added 18 while Sam Clancy had 12 for the winners. Derrick Obasohan had 15 points for Strasbourg, Rob Lewin added 14 and Eddie Shannon 10. Le Mans led 46-31 at halftime, boosted its margin to 65-48 after 30 minutes and cruised to an easier than expected home win.
