Adriatic League, Game 19: January 26-27, 2008
Corey Brewer - Zadar Zadar took the big showdown in the Adriatic League this season by downing Partizan Igokea 70-54 at home in front of a sellout crowd on Saturday. Zadar is second at 16-3 and is on a 13-game winning streak. Meanwhile, Partizan stayed first at 17-2 but saw its 15-game winning streak come to an end. Corey Brewer paced the winners with 18 points. Hemofarm and Red Star tie for the third place at 12-7. Hemofarm beat plit CO 83-78 in Vrsac also on Saturday behind 23 points from Milivoje Bozovic, while Red Star topped Siroki Prima pivo 96-90 in Belgrade on Saturday. Tadija Dragicevic led 7 Zvezda players in double digits with 18 points. Meanwhile, Marin Rozic nailed a game-winning triple to make Cibona edge Union Olimpija 82-80 in Zagreb. Chris Warren paced the winners with 37 points on 9-for-10 two-pointers and 5-for-8 triples. Maurice Bailey had 22 points for Olimpija. Buducnost improved to 11-8 by thrashing Vojvodina Srbijagas 73-54 in Podgorica on Saturday while FMP topped 66-79 with 23 points from Zoran Erceg. In other games, Helios Domzale bested Zagreb CO 78-71.

Zadar registered its 13th consecutive win by downing Partizan Igokea 70-54 at home in front of a sellout crowd on Saturday. Zadar is second at 16-3 and one win behind Partizan, first at 17-2. Brewer paced the winners with 18 points. Pankracije Barac added 14 while Todor Gecevski and Andrej Stimac each had 12 for Zadar. Milt Palacio had 16 points for Partizan while Novica Velickovic added 13 for the guests, whose last lead came at 9-10. A 19-6 run that Stimac capped with consecutive triples gave Zadar a 28-16 margin after 10 minutes. Brewer and Barac helped Zadar to boost its margin to 43-27 at halftime and even when a triple by Velickovic got Partizan within 58-50, the hosts did not find much trouble to add another home win. Hemofarm Stada improved to 12-7 by edging Split CO 83-78 in Vrsac also on Saturday. Bozovic led the winners with 23 points. Rawle Marshall added 14, Milos Borisov had 12 and Stefan Markovic 11 for Hemofarm, that trailed 71-73 with 6 minutes to go. Borisov and Milan Macvan fueled a 9-0 run that put Hemofarm ahead for good while a final triple by Bozovic sealed the outcome in the final seconds. Red Star also moved up to 12-7 by beating Siroki Prima pivo 96-90 in Belgrade on Saturday. Dragicevic led 7 Zvezda players in double digits with 18 points. Omar Cook added 13, Elmedin Kicanovic, Boris Bakic and Miroslav Raicevic each had 12 while Mlajden Sljivancanin and Nenad Misanovic got 11 apiece for the winners, who led all the way in the second half. Siroki got within 86-83 with 3 minutes to go but Bakic and Cook stepped up to win it for Zvezda.

Cibona survived a big thriller by edging Union Olimpija 82-80 in Zagreb on a game-winning triple by Rozic. Both teams now tie for the sixth place at 10-9. Warren paced the winners with 37 points on 9-for-10 two-pointers and 5-for-8 triples. Sam Hoskin and Rozic each added 15 for Cibona. Bailey had 22 points for Olimpija, Sasa Doncic added 15 and Marko Milic 12. Back-to-back baskets by Warren gave Cibona a 27-14 lead early in the second quarter. but a 0-14 run brought Olimpija back in the game, 35-35, at halftime. Free throws by Hoskin seemed to put Cibona ahead for good, 68-61, but Bailey and Doncic helped Olimpija to get a 73-77 edge with 2 minutes to go. Warren and Doncic traded triples, Warren insisted from downtown and Rozic copied him for a 82-80 Cibona edge. Doncic and Goran Dragic missed respective shots for Olimpija in the final seconds. Buducnost improved to 11-8 by thrashing Vojvodina Srbijagas 73-54 in Podgorica on Saturday. Vladimir Micov led the way for Buducnost with 13 points, Vladislav Dragojlovic added 12 while Marko Popovic had 10 for the winners. Buducnost trailed 27-30 at halftime but a 16-0 run that Dragojlovic capped with a put-back layup gave the hosts full control at 47-34. Buducnost boosted its margin up to 69-49, enough to seal the outcome. FMP went up to 9-10 by topping 66-79 with 23 points from Erceg. Predrag Samardziski added 19 and 11 rebounds for FMP, that led 49-50 after 30 minutez. Erceg had 6 quick points, Filip Covic stroke from downtown while Samardziski allowed the guests to break the game open, 62-75, late in the fourth quarter.
