Ovarense Aerosoles improved to 12-1 and is now two games ahead everyone else in the Portuguese League standings by downing Lusitania Angra Patrimonio Mundial 91-75 in Ovar on Sunday. Gregory Stempin led the winners with 20 points. Graham Brown added 19 while Cordell Henry had 18 for Ovarense, that trailed 56-58 midway through the third quarter. A game-breaking 18-0 run that Miguel Miranda capped with a basket allowed Ovarense to get a 74-58 lead and cruised to a well-deserved win. Porto Ferpinta dropped to 10-3 due to a 90-94 road loss against Barreirense on Saturday. E.J. Drayton paced the winners with 31 points and 9 rebounds. Darrell Harris added 24 points while Deforrest Riley-Smith had 16 for Barreirense. Nuno Marcal had 22 points for Porto, that rallied from a 13-point deficit in the final 8 minutes to get within 90-91 with 16 seconds remaining. Free throws by Drayton and Chris Alexander sealed the upset. In other games, Casino Figueira Ginasio beat CAB Madeira 78-83 while Vagos edged Belenenses Hyundai Lusifor 81-82.
