Swiss League, Regular Season, Game 16: February 2-3, 2008

The 16th week of the Swiss League saw a big upset in the top positions of the standings as the second team, the Lugano Snakes, took over leader Benetton Fribourg by 84-78. With this result, Fribourg is still the leader with a 14-2 record but the Tigers get close as they improve to 13-3 in second place. The first half was realy close as it ended 39-41 for Fribourg. The third quarter was much of the same story as the score remained close but it was in the last period when, with a 23-16 partial, the Snakes took control of the game for good. Oliver Vogt led Fribourg with 13 points, Pascal Perrier-David and Dave Esterkamp had 12 apiece and Harold Mrazek inked 10 for the guests. In other results, Lausanne Basket was a road winner at Meyrin Grand-Saconnex by a clear 62-79. BC Boncourt survived Sdent BBC Nyon by 80-78. BBC Monthey thrashed the Geneva Devils by 75-51, Sion Herens Basket was a road winner at Vevey Riviera Basket by 71-84 and in the last game of the week, SAV Vacallo Basket escaped with a road win from Birstal Starwings, 74-76.
