Russian League, Game 19: February 14-16, 2008
Nikos Zisis - CSKA Moscow CSKA Moscow stayed atop the Russian League standings and improved to 16-1 by simply overwhelming SibirTelekom 130-61 at home on Saturday. Zakhar Pashutin paced the winners with 22 points. Nikos Zisis added 18, David Andersen posted a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds, Viktor Khryapa had 16 points and 11 rebounds, Marcus Goree and Theo Papaloukas each scored 14 points while Ramunas Siskauskas got 11 for CSKA, that led 57-34 at halftime and kept rolling until the final buzzer to add a massive 69-point win. Khimki is now second at 16-2 by edging Triumph Lyubertsy 64-65 on the road on Friday. Daniel Ewing became the game hero with the game-winning free throw. Kelly McCarty and Clay Tucker led the winners each with 12 points. Terrell Lyday had 18 points for Triumph, Mire Chatman added 12 while Uros Slokar had 10 for the hosts, that led 60-49 with 6 minutes to go. Tucker and McCarty brought Khimki back to life while Ewing won the game down the stretch. Dynamo improved to 13-5 by thrashing SibirTelekom 121-85 at home on Friday. Travis Hansen led the way for Dynamo with 25 points. Henry Domercant added 23, Antonis Fotsis had 21, Robertas Javtokas posted a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds while Sergey Monya got 14 points in an easy win for Dynamo, that led 65-34 at halftime. Unics moved up to 11-6 by downing University Surgut 108-73 in Kazan on Friday. Darjus Lavrinovic and Dmitriy Sokolov led the winners each with 18 points. Marko Tusek added 16 while Sergey Chikalkin and Jerry McCullough had 14 apiece for Unics, that led 85-45 after 30 minutes. In other games, Ural Great thrashed Enisey 66-84 while CSK VVS-Samara topped Spartak St. Petersburg 80-89 behind 31 points from Alex Scales.
