Nothing changed atop the Italian League standings, as Montepaschi Siena followed its recent Euroleague Top 16 success with a massive 95-68 home win over Legea Scafati. Drake Diener led the winners with 24 points on 6-for-7 three-pointers while Ksistof Lavrinovic added 18 for Montepaschi, that improved to 22-2 and has a six-game margin ahead everyone else. Meanwhile, Armani Jeans Milano thrashed Benetton Treviso 73-98 on the road on Saturday to improve to 12-12 in the standings. Danilo Gallinari led the winners with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Upim Bologna also improved to 12-12 by topping Air Avellino 70-76 on the road on Sunday behind 18 points from Stefano Mancinelli. Lottomatica Roma dropped to 15-9 due to a 69-61 road loss against Solsonica Rieti. A final 10-0 run in which Filip Videnov had 8 points allowed Rieti to win the game. La Fortezza Bologna went down to 10-14 due to a 72-81 road loss against Scavolini Spar Pesaro. In other games, Eldo Napoli upset Premiata Montegranaro 72-85, Cimberio Varese topped Angelico Biella 87-81 in overtime, Snaidero Udine bested Pierrel Capo d'Orlando 100-91 while Tisettanta Cantu thrashed Siviglia Wear Teramo 79-99 behind 20 points from Torin Francis.
Montepaschi Siena improved to 22-2 by thrashing Legea Scafati 95-68 at home on Sunday. Diener led the winners with 24 points on 6-for-7 three-pointers. Lavrinovic added 18 while Bootsy Thornton had 12 for Montepaschi, that trailed 15-20 after 10 minutes. Diener and Thornton combined for 20 points in the second quarter, allowing Montepaschi to get a 45-28 halftime margin. An unstoppable Diener boosted the hosts' margin to 57-31 and Scafati never recovered. Armani Jeans Milano showed its power by thrashing Benetton Treviso 73-98 on the road on Saturday. AJ Milano improved to 12-12 while Benetton dropped to 10-14. Gallinari led the winners with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Travis Watson added 16, Dusan Vukcevic had 15 while Melvin Booker and Mindaugas Katelynas each got 14 for Milano. Lionel Chalmers had 19 points for Benetton, Marco Mordente added 18 and Reece Gaines 17. Three-pointers by Vukcevic and Booker, as well as a layup-plus-foul by Katelynas allowed Milano to get a 26-31 lead after 10 minutes. The guests improved their defense, while Vukcevic and Gallinari fueled a 0-8 run that gave Milano a 39-52 halftime margin. An unstoppable Gallinari and back-to-back triples by Vukcevic made it a 20-point game, 60-80, and Milano never looked back.
Upim Bologna improved to 12-12 by topping Air Avellino 70-76 on the road on Sunday. Mancinelli paced the winners with 18 points, Horace Jenkins added 16 while Joseph Forte had 15 for Upim, that trailed 59-56 after 30 minutes. Jenkins and Oscar Torres allowed Fortitudo to get a 70-70 tie with 2 minutes to go. Avellino went scoreless right when it mattered while Jenkins, Mancinelli and Jenkins allowed Upim to get a quality road win. Lottomatica Roma dropped to 15-9 due to a 69-61 road loss against Solsonica Rieti. Filip Videnov led the way for Rieti with 14 points. David Hawkins had 17 points for Roma while Gregor Fucka added 11. Roma led 59-61 after 37 minutes but Videnov had 8 points in a final 10-0 run that allowed Rieti to get a big home win. La Fortezza Bologna went down to 10-14 due to a 72-81 road loss against Scavolini Spar Pesaro. Keydren Clark led the winners with 18 points. Guilherme Giovannoni had 18 points for Virtus while Alan Anderson added 15. Scavolini led 49-60 after 30 minutes and even when Anderson brought Virtus within 72-77 already in the final minute, it happened to be too little, too late for the hosts.
